Why we collaborate

The Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) experiences growing health needs, multiple complex emergencies, includes fragile and conflict affected settings and has a disproportionate share of populations in need of humanitarian assistance, and high levels of inequalities and population mobility. It is also adversely affected by changes in the global health financing environment, wherein existing resources across the public health spectrum are increasingly insufficient.

The pursuit of health for all in the region necessitates an 'all-hands-on-deck' approach.

Beyond the determination and buy-in from the Member States, success requires forging diverse and complementary partnerships harnessing a wide range of comparative strengths, technical expertise, financial and in-kind contributions. WHO EMRO is prioritizing strategic, operational and innovative partnerships with diverse players and constituencies including governments, inter-governmental organizations, multilateral agencies, civil society and non-governmental organizations, academia and think-tanks, and the private sector.

How we collaborate

We aim at leveraging technical and financial resources of all partners to deliver health impact at the country-level through establishing innovative, effective and efficient partnerships. WHO EMRO seeks strategic and purpose-driven collaborations with clear objectives, shared accountability and adaptive frameworks that can respond to evolving health crises, policy shifts, and funding constraints. Our partnerships focus on co-creation with the range of actors to maximize added value and optimize the use of resources, mitigate risks, foster learning exchanges, disseminate best practices, and drive innovation to strengthen, expand, and sustain impactful collaborations.
