إن برنامج سلامة الدم والمختبرات والتصوير في المكتب الإقليمي لمنظمة الصحة العالمية لشرق المتوسط يعمل مع الحكومات والسلطات الصحية في الإقليم لضمان حصول السكان على دمٍ ومنتجات دمٍ مأمونة وبأسعار معقولة.
ويهدف البرنامج إلى ضمان أن نقل الدم يجري في حالة الضرورة فقط، وأنه يقدَّم كجزء من برنامج مستدامٍ بخصوص الدم، داخل منظومة الرعاية الصحية القائمة.
ويساهم البرنامج في تعزيز قدرات المختبرات الصحية الوطنية، مع التركيز - بوجه خاص - على القواعد والمعايير والسياسات الوطنية للمختبرات، فضلاً عن تعزيز جودة الإجراءات المختبرية، وإنشاء مخططات لتقييم الجودة وتوسيع المخططات الخارجية. كما أن ضمان الجودة في التصوير وفي قياس الجرعات هي الأصول في البرنامج للمساعدة على وضع تشريعات خاصة بزراعة الأعضاء وبالرعاية الجراحية على مستوى المنطقة كجزء من الإجراءات السريرية.
