اللوائح الصحية الدولية تتطلب من البلدان اكتشاف وتقييم والإبلاغ عن الأحداث التي يمكن أن تؤدي في حالة طوارئ صحية عمومية تثير قلقا دوليا. مصدر الصورة: منظمة الصحة العالمية
تُعتَبَر اللوائح الصحية الدولية (2005) إطاراً عالمياً للوقاية من انتشار المرض على الصعيد الدولي والحماية منه ومكافحته وتوفير استجابة الصحة العمومية تجاهه مع تجنب التدخل غير الضروري في حركة التنقل والتجارة الدولية. وكان دخول هذه اللوائح حيز التنفيذ في 15 يونيو/حزيران 2007 علامة مميزة للصحة العمومية.
تُلزِم اللوائح الصحية الدولية (2005) البلدان على اكتشاف وتقييم الأحداث، والتبليغ عنها والتي قد تؤدي إلى حالة طارئة في مجال الصحة العمومية قد تثير قلقا دولياً (PHEIC) لمنظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO), وهذه اللوائح ملزمة قانوناً على 194 بلدا (الدول الأطراف) في جميع أنحاء العالم، بما في ذلك جميع الدول الأعضاء في منظمة الصحة العالمية.
