حياة كل أم وطفل غاية في الأهميةحياة كل أم وطفل غاية في الأهميةيلقى مفهوم “الصحة الإنجابية"، كمكون هام في الصحة العمومية اهتماماً متزايداً ويجري تطبيقه في جميع بلدان إقليم شرق المتوسط تقريباً. وتعد البحوث والترصد والاستفادة من البيانات في اتخاذ القرار المسند بالبيّنات وتحديد الأولويات والتوعية هي الأولويات الاستراتيجية للصحة الإنجابية وتطوير برنامج البحوث على الصعيدين الإقليمي والقطري.
ونظراً للمعدلات المرتفعة لوفيات الأمهات والولدان في بعض البلدان، فإنه يولى اهتمام خاص بالبرامج التي تسعى لجعل الحمل أكثر أمناً، بينما تشمل المجالات الأخرى ذات الأولوية ما يلي:
- عدوى السبيل الإنجابي
- العداوى المنقولة جنسياً بما في ذلك الإيدز والعدوى بفيروسه
- سرطانات الجهاز الإنجابي
- الممارسات الضارة بالصحة الإنجابية
- المشورة قبل الزواج والمشورة الوراثية
- تحري الاضطرابات الوراثية في الولدان
