تركز حملة اليوم العالمي للإيدز 2001 على دور الرجال في الوقاية من الإيدز. يهدف شعار الحملة "أنا مهتم... وأنت؟"، إلى إلهام وحث وتعزيز الالتزام الشخصي من قبل الرجال لإنقاص أخطار فيروس العوز المناعي البشري، وهو الفيروس الذي يسبب الإيدز. يتم هذا بأدوارهم كأبناء، أزواج، معيلين، موظفين، عمال أو أصدقاء. وفي كل وجه من أوجه حياتهم، يجب على الرجال أن يضطلعو بدورهم لتظهر العناية بصحتهم وسعادتهم، إضافة إلى من يعيش حولهم.
