About the programme
The educational development and training programmes provides technical support to countries in the Region by strengthening their national education systems, including schools and universities, and supporting:
evaluation of training programmes in terms of relevance and capacity for scaling up production of health workers
strengthening of accreditation mechanisms
reform of health sciences training programmes and curricula
introduction of innovative training methods, such as distance learning
training capacity in countries in terms of training of trainers, teaching equipment and materials, infrastructure investment and development
networking and twinning of training institutions, WHO collaborating centres and exchange of expertise within and outside the Region
national continuing education processes
strategic management of fellowships.
