To celebrate World Leprosy Day 2018, the WHO country office in Egypt developed a 5-minute video interview with Dr Alaa Hashish, (World Health Organization Egypt country office). He talks about the disease and mode of transmission.
Leprosy is not easily transmitted from one person to another except under close contact and immunity-related issues of contact. Leprosy affects the skin and peripheral nerve system mucosa of the upper respiratory tract and eyes. He provides information on medical information about the disease and its symptoms. He discusses negative impressions and stereotypes, as well as the importance of eliminating stigma and discrimination toward leprosy patients.
