The WHO country office works closely with the national AIDS control programme. It has provided technical and operational support to the development of a national HIV/AIDS policy and national strategic framework for 2008-2015.
The strategy includes the introduction of a harm reduction programme and establishment of voluntary testing and counselling in major cities. To mobilize local leaders and resources, AIDS prevention committees have been established in each district. A revised school curriculum has also been developed to fight HIV/AIDS in the country.
