With the recent polio outbreaks in neighbouring countries, Sudan guards itself to maintain the country’s polio-free status. Around 6.9 million children in Sudan will be targeted during the three-day national immunization days from 4 November to 6 November 2013. Alongside this campaign, discussions are underway between parties to allow a two-week polio vaccination campaign in South Kordofan and Blue Nile. Since the conflict erupted in these areas, no polio vaccination campaign has taken place.
