The United Nations Global Road Safety Week is a global event organized across the world to act as a platform for improving road safety for the hundreds of millions of people that tread the roads every day. During this week, a large number of international, national and local events are hosted all over the world with participation of many partners: UN agencies, governments, civil society and the private sector. The week is modelled after previous road safety weeks organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and World Health Day 2004.
The First United Nations Global Road Safety Week took place in April 2007 and was dedicated to young road users, through the coordinated action of the United Nations Regional Commissions and WHO.
