In accordance with the malaria T3 initiative (Test, Treat and Track) that emphasizes effective diagnosis and treatment of malaria, a regional training course on malaria case management will be held at the Blue Nile National Institute for Communicable Diseases in Wad Medani, Sudan, from 22 to 29 November 2014. The course is designed to build the capacity of clinicians on all aspects of malaria case management, including diagnostic testing, treatment of uncomplicated and severe malaria, management of malaria at primary health care and community levels and chemoprophylaxis.
The objectives of the course are to:
- improve participants’ knowledge, skills and competence to better understand the basis of malaria diagnosis and treatment; plan and implement malaria case management services; and understand antimalarial treatment policy formulation; and
- pilot a newly developed e-learning module developed by the Global Malaria Programme on case management for implementation on a large scale.
