The WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region will be celebrating World Malaria Day on 25 April along with the rest of the world. The Day was instituted by WHO Member States during the World Health Assembly of 2007. It provides an opportunity to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria prevention and control.
The Day represents an opportunity to highlight and emphasize the importance of testing, treating and tracking every malaria case (T3 approach).
World Malaria Day on 25 April will be commemorated in all malaria-endemic countries of the Region. Several organizations have partnered with malaria control programmes in countries to mark the Day.
A regional Malaria Day ceremony will be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, in the presence of national authorities, organizations and WHO.
