A WHO mission is scheduled to visit Oman from 27 to 31 October 2013 to provide support to nationals in updating the malaria diagnosis guidelines. Early and accurate diagnosis of malaria is important for both malaria surveillance and management of the disease. Oman is seen as a model in the Region in its efforts in malaria elimination. However, given the country’s close ties with endemic countries in East Africa and the Indian sub-continent, malaria diagnosis remains a top priority.
