The 10th biennial conference of the Chest Society of Pakistan was held in Karachi from 23 to 26 February, 2012. The proceedings were dominated by issues relating to tuberculosis control.
The conference covered a good mix of public health and clinical topics over the three days. Presentations included a regional overview of tuberculosis control, the successes and challenges of the national tuberculosis control programme over the past decade, the tuberculosis prevalence survey, drug resistant tuberculosis, and addressing social determinants and promoting community involvement for tuberculosis control.
Delegates included representatives from the KNCV Tuberculois Foundation, national and provincial tuberculosis control programmes, WHO Pakistan country office and WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean.
