Between September 2012 and September 2013, the number of sentinel sites in Syria increased by 160% (from 104 to 274).

WHO scales up response to crisis in Syrian Arab Republic, 15 January 2013
15 January 2013 – In light of the continuing crisis in the Syrian Arab Republic and its impact on neighbouring countries, WHO is establishing an emergency support team to provide technical and operational support to its offices in the Syrian Arab Republic and the neighbouring countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt and Turkey.
