A training workshop on the Global Tobacco Surveillance System (GTSS) took place in Cairo, Egypt, from 26 to 30 July 2009. Representatives of selected Member States from across the Eastern Mediterranean Region attended the workshop and were trained on:
- implementing the GTSS at national level
- analysing GTSS data at national level
- planning for future implementation of the GTSS, especially the Global Adult Tobacco Survey
- strengthening national surveillance systems in tobacco control.
