TheNational Institutes of Health (NIH) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)are now accepting proposals for research on waterpipe tobacco products. Thepurpose of this funding opportunity is to encourage biomedical, behavioural andsocial science research that will inform the development and evaluation ofpossible regulatory action on waterpipe (or hookah)tobacco products.
Researchprojects must address the research priorities related to the regulatoryauthority of the FDA Center for Tobacco Products as mandated by the FamilySmoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. Research results from this grantare expected to generate findings and data that are directly relevant to informthe FDA's regulation of the manufacture, distribution and marketing ofwaterpipes to protect public health.
Applicantsare required to strictly adhere to the guidelines of this grant, and conform toall requirements.
