The fifteenth meeting of the national tuberculosis programme managers in the Eastern Mediterranean Region on strategic planning and MDR management was held in Cairo, Egypt, from 9 to 12 December 2012.
The objectives of the meeting were to:
• review TB implementation status in the Region
• follow up on the progress made in developing national strategic plans.
• address mulitdrug-resistant (MDR) management expansion and community involvement in TB control, specifically in MDR management.
The national TB control programme managers presented and discussed their national TB strategic plans, MDR-TB plans and TB control situation with WHO staff and consultants. Gaps were identified and future plans were developed according to the discussed recommendations.
