The Stop TB programme organized a consultation for analysing and reporting the results of tuberculosis (TB) drug-resistance surveys recently conducted in countries of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. The consultation took place at the Regional Office from 23 to 26 April 2012.
The aims of the consultation were to support:
the review and verification of the quality of data collected during the field work for TB drug-resistance surveys
data analysis and interpretation of collected data
reporting in line with global standards for TB drug-resistance surveys.
The consultation was attended by TB laboratory staff working for TB drug-resistance surveys, statisticians and multidrug-resistance focal persons at national TB programmes from Egypt, Somalia, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia and Yemen.
Staff members from WHO headquarters and field staff from Somalia also participated.
