Mission members with health staff during their visit to SudanSudan is implementing a national TB prevalence survey with funding from the Global Fund to Fights AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and contribution from the Federal Ministry of Health, Sudan. WHO provides technical support for the prevalence survey in line with the Global Task Force on TB Impact Measurement (hosted and coordinated by WHO).
The first international monitoring mission for the national TB disease prevalence survey took place from 18 to 28 February. The aim of the mission was to monitor and evaluate the field work activities of the national prevalence survey and provide recommendations to rectify identified challenges.
The mission visited the project management unit at the Public Health Institute along with its central data management unit, the central chest X-ray unit in a private centre, and the national reference laboratory.
The mission visited all active clusters in Sudan comprising two in Khartoum state (one urban and one rural) and an urban cluster in Kassala state.
