World Health Day 2023: 75 years of improving public health
On 7 April 2023 World Health Day, the World Health Organization will observe its 75th anniversary.
In 1948, countries of the world came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere could attain the highest level of health and well-being.
This year, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of WHO. It is an opportunity to look back at the public health successes that have improved people’s quality of life over the last 7 decades as a result of our dedicated work with governments, communities, international organizations, foundations, advocates, researchers and health workers to advance the health and security of all people.
It is also an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of today ̶ and tomorrow.
Regional Director’s statement

WHO champions
All through the 75-year long journey, WHO has joined hands with health champions who believe in the Organization’s vision and mission, exerting efforts and contributing, in their own ways and own areas of work, to fulfilling WHO’s mandate. To those champions everywhere, a big thank you in acknowledgment of your valuable support.
