The Ministry of Health in Iraq at the federal and Kurdistan regional levels, in collaboration with WHO Iraq, conducted a 2-day intensive adaptation workshop on piloting results of the rapid assessment of the readiness of health facilities to strengthen primary and secondary response to intimate partner/domestic violence in Iraq. The workshop was conducted from 2 to 3 December 2012 in Erbil. The meeting is being attended by 2 research teams constituting 20 academic and medical experts responsible for conducting the assessment in around 10 randomly selected primary health care centres in Baghdad and Erbil. The objective of the workshop is to review the data collected from the piloting of the rapid assessment and to adapt the assessment instrument based on the issues found in the piloting, in preparation for the subsequent full implementation of the rapid assessment tool on intimate partner/domestic violence in Iraq during the remainder of December 2012.
