Consultative meeting on strengthening partnerships for integrated noncommunicable diseases prevention and control, 9–11 April 2011

noncommunicable diseases A consultative meeting to strengthen partnerships for integrated prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases in the Eastern Mediterranean Region was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 9 to 11 April 2011. The objectives of the meeting were to:

provide an opportunity for WHO collaborating centres and research institutes to discuss and share perspective on noncommunicable disease training and research

understand expectation, roles and contribution of regional WHO collaborating centres and research centres in support of the implementation of the regional Noncommunicable Diseases Action Plan.

A panel discussion was held on the UN high-level meeting on noncommunicable diseases, which took place in September 2011. The meeting provided an opportunity to brief participants on preparation for the meeting and to discuss their views and regional contributions. Proposed activities for noncommunicable diseases training and research were discussed with the directors of the collaborating centres and research institutions and a draft plan for the next two years was developed.
